The longer version…

Stefan started his fitness career while in high school where he was on the Golf team, began lifting weights and immersed himself in the sport of windsurfing. While attending Bentley University in Waltham, MA he was on the swim team for two years and continued his love of fitness as a runner and via gym based fitness.

After graduating from Bentley with a degree in Business Management Stefan followed his love for windsurfing to the Caribbean island of Aruba where he was the Assistant Director of Operations for Sailboard Vacations, then the largest windsurfing resort in the world.

Upon returning to the States Stefan reinitiated his love for fitness becoming a personal trainer on Martha’s Vineyard and in Boston. He managed a fitness facility called Fitness Firm on the Vineyard for several years that focused on private one on one and small group fitness. It was during this time that Stefan was introduced to Yoga and he has not lifted weights since.

Becoming enamored with anatomy and rehabilitation he started looking for more sophisticated ways of working with the body. In 1999 Stefan moved to Boulder, CO where he attended the Massage Therapy Institute of Colorado, in Denver, where he studied swedish, deep tissue, myofascial release, neuromuscular and reflex therapies during which he enrolled in the most extensive Pilates Certification in the world at The Pilates Center.

While studying myofascial release, Stefan was introduced to  Rolfing Structural Integration and needless to say was enrolled in the Rolfing training within days of completing his massage therapy training. Rolfing SI has served as Stefan’s guiding light both in his personal life and in his practice.

After completing more that 3000 hours of training in two and a half years Stefan moved back to Martha’s Vineyard in 2003. Open his current practice, the Vineyard Pilates Center where he and his staff offers Private, Semi-private and Group Pilates to all levels in addition to Rolfing, Massage, and Cranio-Sacral therapies. He also offers, a 750 hour, comprehensive, Pilates teacher training program.

Over the years Stefan has traveled around the country teaching Pilates workshops to Pilates professionals and enthusiast from Denver to Naples, FL. His deepest interest lie in helping others realize their full potential, pain resolution and management and serving the community.

In 2010, Stefan added Masters Certified Pilates Instructor to his credentials. Most currently, Stefan has initiated the Pilates Access Program which is to be a not-for-profit 501c3 (tax exempt, charitable organization) slated to provide subsidized services via “financial scholarship” to those in the community that cannot afford the services of the Vineyard Pilates Center and its world class staff.
